The Donor: A Holy Example

Once I got the sprite in the garage the idea was to strip it right down to just the bare shell, so that I could see how badly corroded the shell was and what would need replacing panel and floor wise.

As can be seen from the picture the driver's side floor has completley had it! The passenger floor is not much better, inner and outer sills have had it and the foot well wall outer panels will need replacing as well. Now the screen has been removed you can see the original colour was the lighter shade of British racing green and some time in the cars past it has been re-sprayed the darker BRG color, I think I prefer the lighter color of the two!

The rear of the car has suffered badly from the dreaded rust and rot, all the axle bolts had to be cut through, this was made easier by my trusty air saw! The 1/4 epileptic springs should strip down and clean up OK but the mounting points and rear panel will need replacing.

Front end wise the engine looks to be all there although I have not heard it running; it will receive a full rebuild to 1380cc spec, quite fancy the idea of a supercharger as well!

I will overhaul all the steering and suspension on the car as I go through the build, the wiring loom has seen better days too so will need to be replaced along the way.
